I remember seeing on here that there were some decent rides beside the University, I was hoping to pop up there this evening.
Anyone know the best place to start for someone who doesnt know the area at all?
Cheers

Routes around falkirk/ bathgate/ linlithgow also an option if there is much around there??
Try the stirling bike club website?
Dumyat, not sure if North Third is near there.
Dumyat. Easy to find from the Uni.

Plenty of stuff to ride / play around on at Beecraigs (between Linlithgow and Bathgate) - if you cycle up from the town the uphill isn't rewarded with a corresponding amount of downhill, but there's still some fun bits (e.g. the single track along the entire south perimeter, and some new 'exits' from the bombhole areathat someone seems to have been developing. Also some enjoyable stuff at Muiravonside country park (next to the Canal just to the west of the Aquaduct). "Main" route is to the right of the central road before you get to the car park. At the top you can go either left or right to come back down (if its been raining recently go left or you'll be mud munching). There is then some other stuff behind the llamas and beyond the visitor centre building. You can also ride a lot of the avon heritage trail - which is good provided you time it so its not busy with walkers.
Plenty of stuff...easiest one is Dumyat - park at the uni and head over the bridge over the lochan. As you go over the bridge you want to head up to the right (towards the golf and Airthrey Castle). The woods behind here take you to to top of the hill and the start of Dumyat (go through a hole in the wall where a door used to be, turn left, ride up to T junction turn right and head up road for 300 yards - turn right and you are starting Dumyat).
It's a nice climb - not overly technical but has it's fair share of stuff to make you think, steep in places and it's a cracking descent.
The directions are utter mince but should be enough to get you on your way (assuming you don't need led by the hand)...
I believe there are a few Stirling Bike Club folk heading out from the uni at around half 7 so you should be able to get some directions or companions if you want.
theres loads of wee rides around stirling...
oh, thats not what you meant ๐

Dickbarton - followed your directions (kind of) and by chance met up with some of the Stirling bike club guys.
Great bunch they were and they showed me some of the local trails, had a blast through the university woods, then up to "quarry woods" and through the trails there.
Great fast natural singletrack, with some nice little techy sections.
Very enjoyable, thanks guys!!
I'll be back! ๐
