Why does my reverb resist dropping at the beginning of it's travel? I have to lift my ass up and give it a good thump.

Seat clamp too tight?

If the seatpost angle leans back much it is easy for the seatpost to bind depending on where your body weight is.

You can see if you can feel it by pushing down on the back of the saddle compared to pushing down directly above the seatpost, or on the nose.

Could also be a knackered bushing or the air holes in the base of the post are blocked and need a clean out (so I am led to believe).  My Reverb is off for a service st the moment, but when I took it out the holes were full of crud.

Just spoke to J-Tech who have my post for a service at the moment, I asked about the stiction I was getting and they said could be down to a lack of lubricant on the internals, which were by all accounts, pretty dry (though in good condition otherwise).

My guess would be it needs a service - they run very smooth when they've just been serviced IME.Could be an over-tightened seatpost clamp though, too.

If all's well internally, they shouldn't be binding regardless of the seat tube angle etc.

Are we talking a basic service with the £10 service kit or a full rebuild?

Still waiting for a decent dropper that goes down as well as up. Find it pretty awkward trying to squat down on the seat when entering a technical section.

I must say that I've found Reverb's to be reliable until these last 2

Just take it apart give it a good clean up and re-assemble with fresh oil/grease. Plenty of vids on the Tube to help you along. Just setting the ifp (Internal Floating Piston) is the tricky bit but even that  is not too bad really . You can inspect internals for repair if needed. Done a few now and a good clean makes the world of difference.

Service using the £10 service kit seems to have fixed it

Yeah sorry that was the service I meant.

Having taken mine apart a couple of times, I wouldn't bother not having the £10 kit to hand, the first time I didn't have the kit when I pulled it apart and found the bushing in pieces despite the post still working OK.
