Hi, I'm looking to buy some second hand revelations and want to be sure of what i'm getting - what are the differences between the 2011 and 2012 models?

Do the 2011 version have blackbox damping and the 2012 not? what about 20mm/15mm axles too?

Was it 15mm only in 2012?

Thanks

Guy

Think the black box damping is model dependent. Not year. Think its the Race and possibly XX models that have black box.
RCT3 came in 2013

In terms of axle just make sure its the right one. I'm pretty sure they still make them in 20mm axles.

I haven't checked any of this. But have owned a couple of sets so did a bit of research when buying them.

Dual air is MUCH better than solo air. My solos Were hard to find a sweet spot between blowing through all the travel, and rock hard.

Thanks Chrisdw - yes that makes sense - what about 'motion control' looks like that might have been 2011 only?

I'm just keen to be able to spot the difference as sellers sometimes aren't quite sure...

The 2011 RLT Ti model has the Blackbox damping (dual flow rebound). It is very good

The 2012 version got a new damper - RCT3 which is meant to be even better.

The RL and the RLT are available on both the 2011 & 2012 forks but do not have the dual flow rebound cart.

Pretty positive both 2011 & 2012 are both dual air, with the move to solo air being for the 2013 forks onwards.

I got some 2011 RLT Ti 150-120 dual position solo air revs with 20mm axles off ebay in the summer. They are very good, very happy with them.

No difference in the chassis but 2012 dampers went from the titanium ones (2011) to the plastic ones (DNA motion control) with a few more damper options eg RCT3.

Ie there is very little difference between 2011 and 2012 RLT, but 2012 had the RCT3 damper which is better than both.

EDIT: I'm not sure about the rebound damper. Maybe they're different but I thought the 2011 RLT Ti had the dual flow damper.

I was under the impression that 20mm axles were only around for about 1 model iteration. I think 2011 based on my fork's.
