I've got a nearly new Bell helmet but one of the notched straps that goes into the ratchet wheel has come loose. I thought it'd just be a case of feeding it back in and spinning the wheel to pick up the strap? Apparently not, so what's the trick - don't want to send the helmet back if it's an easy fix.

So after much faffing and not a little swearing, I managed to thread some thin wire through the slots for the ratchet straps, past the wheel and out the other side, then tie some thinner thread onto the end of the strap and the wire and pull the whole lot back through the mechanisms. Sorted.
