What brand does the hive mind recommend please?

I've been using Superstar ones for a couple of years and haven't died yet!

Superstar kevlar work really well for me, no squeel and last well.

These are really good, started using them earlier this year after being recommended by the bloke from basque mtb.

I'm using Superstar organics. Cheap, brake well, don't squeal. Not quite as long lasting, but at 1/3 the price of the Avids, still well worth it.
