It's that time of year again....
Not all of us get to watch/listen live - we don't want to click on any threads and find out what I'm waiting to watch on TV later..!
Thanks..!
Tom
😀
He's right! Thanks
Shall we tell him? 😯
Lance won! lol
Not really...
...or maybe he did 😉
"spolier", the french for "spoliate"? 😉
If you want to avoid spoilers, avoid forums, and the internet in general.
Lance looks resplendent in his Yellow Jersey this evening. 😉
Lance looks resplendent in his Yellow Jersey this evening.
Would that even have been possible?
Would that even have been possible?
Yes
Maybe the thread title should be something like
"Reminder - if you're posting about the Tour, please use one of the many existing threads without starting yet another one!"
Paople talking about a bike race on a bike forum. Disgraceful.
Tomorrow I'll post the winner's name, without using the word spoiler.
Presumably all mention of the race will be banned in the press, on the radio, on TV and everywhere else that OP might look.
Will he deign to tell us when he will allow us to talk about the stage winner?
Why is he so important that we all have to fall in with his requirements?
Suggest OP goes and hides in a cave for the next three weeks.
wow it was so close 😉
"Would that even have been possible?"
Yes
Theoretically maybe, but realistically?

erm, well yeah. We turn the radio off when the news comes on, don't watch tv news till we've watched the tv coverage etc. You can be careful where you look and it's not really too much to ask that people on a bike forum just use a little common sense before posting is it?
it's not really too much to ask that people on a bike forum just use a little common sense before posting is it?
Ask for the moon on a stick, you're more likely to get that! 😉
lol, yes you're probably right James.
It's odd. I don't find that knowing the result really spoils my enjoyment of watching it later. The drama of a race is not really dependent on surprise. I'll be halfway off the sofa with excitement for an escape that I know will be rolled up with appallingly predictable efficiency 2km from the line, and who wins a sprint is completely irrelevant to the way my heart-rate goes nuts as they wind up for it.
🙂

kind suggestion: substitute the word READING for the word POSTING? 🙂
As BD says, it's still exciting even when you know the inevitable result.
Been avoiding the forum, news and twitter today so I didnt see the results. I peeked at the result yesterday and regretted it once I got home to watch the highlights (I was too keen to see if I had won any money, I had £0.75 🙂 ).
Theoretically maybe, but realistically?
Ah, well obviously I hadn't seen yesterday's stage at that point (and had successfully managed to avoid finding out what happened beyond the stage winner) 🙄
Hopefully that's not a spoiler for anybody else who's still not seen yesterday's?
hate to let the cat out of the bag, but it was won by Maurice Garin in 1903 where we won the coverted green armband. All the other winners finished at least a year (or 106 years) after him.
No yellow for Lance yet!
is this a serious request?
is this a serious request?
yes, it is. read what he says. The same request comes up with most major sporting events, but every time we get some people who don't stop and think for just a millisecond
'spolier'?
why wouldn't it be?is this a serious request?
Yes, I do, I don't go on tdf threads. but when people put news in the tread title it's a bit difficult to avoid!kind suggestion: substitute the word READING for the word POSTING?
is this a serious request?
absolutely
fine discuss it all you want - just *please* don't put the result in the subject line.
i'll happily avoid all threads that have any chance of possibly being about the tour til i've seen the highlights, whether they say spoiler or not, but putting the results up on the summary page can ruin many people's enjoyment
seems a little strange coming onto a cycling forum to avoid news about a cycling event 😕
yeah but would it be so hard for people to use a bit of common sense & not spoil it? It's hardly difficult.
Tomorrow I'll post the winner's name, without using the word spoiler.
It's on! First person to get the name up today wins a lifetime of notoriety, or at least an evening of hatred.

Challenge accepted. I've got broad shoulders.
