i need to get out on a mtb without a sodding electric engine.
i am absolutely sick to death with it and with not being able to get offroad in the hills.
gonna buy a new full susser and hopefully have a go at some uplift days. i am crap at downhilling and cant jump or do drops, but if i dont get out i am gonna explode.
is there anywhere that they do regular/monthly uplift days?
dont mind a drive.
help............ 😡
you sure about this idea? (with your health issues)~
DH is more physically demanding than XC.
most of inners is pretty tame though. uplits most weekends there's not an event on.
Hamsterly
Cymcarn for sure.
I believe there's one at Glycorrwg.
In both cases you can come back down the XC route, which is totally rollable at Afan, and hardly any pedalling at Cymcarn.
Good Luck - I've only just read about your health stuff recently, I wouldn't be surprised if you're at the leading edge of something that may hit a lot of us in the next few years if that article about right ventricle being damaged through endurance events is true.
GW i dont mean to ride downhill like you guyd do, just to get some offroad downhill buzz and not to have to try and get back up under my own steam.
i can manage 10mph on the flat a present, as soon as the road points up i have to get off and walk, unless i am on the ****ing monstrosity bike.
at inners you could ride down make or break then caddon bank (both pedally smooth(ish) DH with rollable jumps and the odd (ride roundable) drop all day long. there's also an alternative natural start to caddon bank that I much prefer (rooty and miles more technical but nothing steep, no drops/jumps or anything you can't just ride slowly. you could also ride the fireroad from the uplift drop-off point out to a couple of XC descents but making it back in time for the next bus leaving from the bottom would be more of a challenge.. could always do that for your last run tho.
let me know if you want details of exactly what I mean.
you'd get 8 runs in a day for around £32 (not done an uplift there in ages)
Ton
Met you a few times at events in the past, sorry to hear not got sorted. Don't know if any use but would be happy to drop you at Dixons hollow sometime and ride down to Low Dalby with you, then leave you in a cafe while I go get the van.

Regular uplift days that I can think of:
Cwmcarn - 5 days a week
Forest of dean - 5 days a week
Pearce cycles at various places in shropshire - most sundays
Uplift scotland - Ae, Inners etc
UK Bike park
Triscombe
Hamsterley
an old/hired van, a few mates and old skool* uplifts somewhere locally?
or towed uplifts (crosser/quad/pitbike)?
* bikes/riders crammed in, forest access road, all take turns driving
Spoke to Tally about this a few weeks back.(probably more like months TBH)
He now runs private uplift days midweek.
We were thinking of Ae, you could do either the DH runs or the last bits of the Red. We have done this before and makes a really enjoyable day.
I'm sure I can get a few of us inc Tom and Grant etc if you fancy that Tony?
I think Ae have a more begineers DH run as well, which I quite fancy a go at.
TBH the actual DH runs are not that bad. I quite enjoyed them last time we did it. Just miss out the big jumps (as i did) 😳
He also does the same thing at Inners
Ton, if the kalkhoff isn't so good off road, have you looked at the Haibike.

There's a UK dealer here;

Won't have the range of the kalkhoff, but looks much more suitable for proper off road with all the heavy bits in the centre of the bike + proper suspension
Fly up Downhill are based at Pedal a bike away in the Forest Of Dean. Through the winter they operate for four days Friday - Monday, but you can book them in advance for other days if there are enough of you. With a handful of downhill tracks plus the FODCA Trail and the very popular Verderers trail it's a great day out. Also there is a cafe, shop, showers, changing facilities and bike wash.
Fod would be good like said and the Verderers trail last descent is pretty good and not far from where the uplift bus will drop you off so if you just want a fast flowy run then you're sorted too. IMO, it needs some big tables on it to make even more fun though
Cwm Carn. You can get the van up & then come down the xc loop. Mostly down with a couple of short ups. It's a decent length back down so you should get a decent fix of singletrack buzz!
The Red DH run at Cwmcarn is also 100% rollable. Lot of fun but still quite knackering if you try to ride it fast.
You can book Molfre for £300, which works out pretty reasonable if you go with a load of mates. The track is fun and not that hard.
You could shuttle the descent line at stainburn, I've seen people doing this.
.... sneaks away to register the domain name www.hebden-uplift.com 😉
I'm sure there'd be a market!!!
