Getting to the end of my tether with sore ar5e (specifically sit bone area) when riding 2hrs+. Process of elimination suggests that I need a wider saddle. None of my existing half dozen saddle are what I would call comfortable but I do get on very well with a wide woman's Specialized Lithia. I might just stick to that but wondered if there are lighter alternatives. Considering a Fabric Scoop Gel or one of those Ergon saddles. Any experience of moving to different saddle shapes very welcome. Or just interested if any other men have found comfort in a "lady saddle".
I've put the widest Fabric Scoop Gel Radius on my mountain bike which is rigid and quite upright and so far so good, 50 mile rides are certainly no problem. It's 152mm I think. Before that I'd tried the standard Scoop Radius, which was an improvement over what I had but not perfect. That's now gone on the road bike and works really well on that, barely aware it's there which is as good as a saddle gets.
If you live near a Specialized store go get your ar5e measured plus they do 30 day exchange so if you don't get on with a saddle you can swap it until you do. Worked for me
Great suggestions. thanks
Get an SQ labs, I had my sit bones measured at 16cm but bought the 155mm 610 ergowave for my Norco Search XR. Couldn't believe the improvement in comfort over the stock saddle which was 140mm.
