Bi-nightly singletrack outings are on the menu this winter for myself and a couple of the lads.

Any recommendations for a good bar / helmet combo that won't require a second mortgage???

I don't want to make a costly mistake and would prefer the views of people who actually use them 😉

Magicshine MJ-872 on the noggin, no need for a bar light, and more effective than 2 cheaper/less bright lights (actually, more effective than many more expensive lights too!) Excellent power, excellent beam pattern, not much more to want.

A second light is a good idea for a backup though (aargh I forgot to charge the battery/aargh I rode into a tree and broke it/aargh it's misty and my helmet light means I'm riding inside a glowing cloud). Any old cheapy thing for the bars.

(Ayup make lovely, lightweight durable lights, but sadly expensive and rather low powered... As in, as bright than the £30 chinese lights I bought 2 years ago. Lovely kit though)

Ay up +1.

If you're going to use them a lot, buy quality.

Can't believe no ones mentioned Smudge/mtbbatteries yet.
Not as cheap as the cheap Chinese stuff, but still cheaper than almost all the mainstream stuff, great backup from him and still v good lights for the price. Nice to support someone from round these parts, plus he's a very nice man.
Trout on here is also v good but his stuff is hand made in the uk (I believe) and is a bit more expensive although also v good going from reports on here..
What lights is turning into the next what tyres/brakes/tubeless on here I reckon! Must be a ton of threads on here on this- search is your friend.
