im wanting to change from sram to xt what rear mech will i need seems to be long cage and short cage whats the differance ?

Long cage = able to cope with more gears (3x10/3x9 on a 'wide' ratio block)
Short cage = unable to cope with more gears (1x9 or 1x10 or a lower spread ratio block)
For most people, long cage is what you need.
