Been building a spesh big hit for a while, and my mate ws bouncing round down the street the other day. Since he got off it, if you lift the seat up the piston pulls apart from the shock, can you tell me how to tighten it?
It's a fox vanilla rear shock

from your description the shaft end screw is loose/out, continued riding will see it get worse, lots of clunking, shims getting mashed, and possibly the shock actually coming apart.
You're buggered without sending it to a servicing house for repair, unless you've got the necessary kit and knowledge to do it yourself
