The XT Shadow rear mech died last night:-(
But i have an old XT mech in the spares box but is a medium cage.
Would it work with a triple chain ring on a Soul?

Medium cage on a triple isn't an issue unless you're a serial chain crosser...

Not sure what the bike has to do with anything though. 🙂

The XT Shadow rear mech died last night:-(

It didn't look good.

I assume it didn't spring back to life this morning then?

Expect it to be a lot noiser than your old Shaddow....

I just love shaddow mechs, I run a medium cage on a tripple no problem, just dont go big big, save you dosh if you buy a new one and just buy the SLX next time the stronger spring is very welcome on a hardtail..

Think I will go with a new SLX shaddow thanks for the help.

Rear mech was very floppy this morning, Higgo.
How was the pool of filth in your hall way?

Running an old (7 or 8 year old) XT mech on mine.

Don't know if its long or medium cage but its never given me gyp.

Why not just try it and see? Whats there to lose, a cable?

How badly did it die, the girlfriends shadow mech tried to jump ship but I managed to rescue it.

Couldn't be rescued, They are designed to wear out I guess.
Seems Shimano now design there stuff to work but not to be repaired.
Disposable society and all..
