I have an 02 Ventana el salty and have no plans to replace it but I would like to clean it up. the alu swing arm is now a rather dull matt and the blue anodising is scratched and rubbed in places as you'd imagine on an 8 year old frame. I know it can be done but has anyone on here had it done? if so by whom and how much was it?

it's the older version of this:

it's pretty much identical other than the brace on the top tube/seat tube.

Ta very much!

Are you sure the frame is anodised ? You can take the rear end to a aluminium polisher or do it yourself to bring it back to its original finish. Any good paint shop can sort out the front triangle. I have changed the colour of many Ventana frames even the few anodised ones.

From stuff we anodise at work, & its only a very thin clear anodising, they have to etch away the surface to get below the old anodising. The parts always come out rough unless smoothed off well before re-anodising. Cant comment on decorative anodising, but guess its pretty simmilar. One sure-fire method is thermal deburring, but nobody does a machine big enough, not that youd want a frame at 3000c for a few milliseconds that it takes.
I'd powder it. Planning on giving my El Ciclon a makeover during the Winter. Totally love my Ventana.

It's 8 years old, it has the scratches dings and marks of being used for it's puporse.

Be proud and leave as is.

Anodising only really works well on new (corrosion and scratch free) aluminium.
