All ready to order an 8, then noticed price on the 9 has been reduced, so difference between the two is <£100. Now can't decide, which is ridiculous

My indecision is based on:
I like RS suspension - my 29er HT has a rev, and the 26er FS being replaced has a pike and CCDBair. 8 has a lyric RCT3 and a vivid R2c, 9 is Fox at both ends - I've not had any fox stuff since a bendy 32 about 6 years ago, but the 36 fork and performance elite stuff gets great reviews.
The 8 is 1x11, the 9 is 2x11 - I use 1x11 on current bikes and don't miss the 2nd ring, but the 9 looks lush in black and has great wheels...
Any help please, other than MTFU and make a decision, and obvs suggestions of other bikes based upon responder ownership...
I went for the 8.0 and love it, I prefer the SRAM/Rockshox combo personally. 9.0 is also slightly heavier.
Personally the only choice for me would have been between the 8.0 and the 10.0
Get the 8.0, keep the £100 and put it towards a set of the upgraded individual brake pads and a bleed kit. (the stock ones are 2 big ones per caliper, the upgraded ones are 4 smaller ones per caliper and are apparently much better)
My MT5s feel spongy, which is odd when the reviews claim they are bit hard so I can only assume they need a quick bleed now everything has settled in.
I feel your pain op.
I much prefer RS suspension but I have to admit the 9.0 looks SO much nicer than the 8.0 in my opinion.
I'm obviously a complete tart in that I would "risk" the Fox set up and go for the 9.0.
Then possibly sell the Fox stuff and replace with RS if I still felt the need...
Nice looking bike either way but I'm a sucker for stealth black bikes. They just look so classy.
I mean, it even LOOKS faster than the 8.0! Lol
For the same money as the 8, I'd sacrifice the extra 10mm of travel, and have the slide carbon with higher end kit and 1.5kg off the weight. 😆

Yeah, but someone just three a few cans of paint at that and hoped for the best! 😀
Tough one. ..
I'd probably have the 8.
Or the 9....
The 9.
2x11 I think is worth having....
But I'd rather have the Lyric and Monarch.
I'm not sure mate.
Sorry.
i'd want the 1by, but prob prefer the TRS wheels over the weightier 1900 Spline.
suprised the more expensive bike is running 2by.
go for the 9.0.... sell the chainrings and cassette, rape an old bike for the 30 or 32 NW chainring and buy a Sunrce cassette.
I took the 8 too, I have a clear preference for the Lyric/Vivid combo (the rear suspension with the Vivid is insane) and the SRAM 1x11 drivetrain.
For looks, I put blue pedals and I have a 800mm blue RF Atlas coming, looks already really good.
So same as Sprinter for me, 8.0 or 10.0.
Edit : oh yeah forgot the wheels... Tough choice.
I went for the 7 as I prefer Shimano gearing and thought I'd save the £300 and just get an MRP ramp cartridge for the Yari's
Ordered on Monday but haven't had any email with tracking details yet 🙁
Get the 8, it's just a better spec full stop.
Put the £100 towards a wheel upgrade and sell the ones that come on it before you use them.
have to agree the spec on the 8 is better than the 9.
Shimano may be forcing manufacturers to stick 2x11 on bikes to try and keep front derailleurs in the market. Although I think europeans aren't as obsessed with 1x as brits are.
I do like the black, but the blue is also lovely looking so wouldn't worry too much...
2x11 is very German.
The shock is the biggest difference for me. The Vivid is great but it is single minded with no platform pro pedal type function. The Fox shock has open medium firm three position switching.
It really depends on your riding and what you value and prioritize.
I'd go 8.
Which one did you say came in black? Decision made.
FWIW I went from the Vivid Air on my 8 to a CCDB Air, and the climb switch was a very welcome addition.
I was dreading going back to the Vivid, but when I did it turned out I couldn't feel much difference.
Tarmac and smooth fire roads are the only time it notices, and it still pedals well enough TBH.
I'd say the 8 but swap the wheels out
rather have the 9.0, prefer XT over the sram
