Hey guys,
After about 20 years of a break I'm playing with the idea of getting back on the bmx tracks as I'm moving next to one very soon. I used to race and I absolutely loved it. Now I'm looking at 3 bikes within my budget (£200-£300) and I was wondering if there are ppl here with some experience/input on them. Also I'm not too sure on the sizing. I'm looking at the pro size with my 30" inseam and 5'10 height.
Redline mx20
Haro Pro
Felt sector pro x
Any advice/help is highly appreciated!
Cheers
Out of those, the Haro is probably the one I would go for. The pproblem with many of those mid/low end completes is they have 20.5 top tubes. I am 5' 9" and wouldn't want anything less than a 21" top tube. But that is just me. My 20" is 21.5 and my cruiser is 22".
Triton Cycles had some great deals on higher end SE race bikes. I would also suggest getting on BMX Talk and looking second hand.
Also, source bmx has some bargains on Intense Bmx at the moment.
Get to your local track and speak to the club, they will have bikes to try out.
Thanks for your input. I will certainly look into the SE range. Any particular models I should be looking at?
similar requirement here, but my issue is i have a massive head and need a full face lid, any one know of a 63cm (i know!) at a reasonable price?
5ft 10 and 32" inside leg here and I'm riding a Haro Pro 24 cruiser. Coming from mtb I thought 24" wheels would be an easier transition.
The Haro is a quality bike but still pretty affordable. All sealed hubs, headset etc and a good weight.
Can I sneak a plug in here, theres a campaign for a new Regional Standard BMX Race Track to be built in Kendal, Cumbria, give it some likes please!

As for a larger fitting helmet, I don't think you can beat a Bell Drop for value. It meets the downhill standard and is a really large fit.
I have a similar cranial circumference and have always found 661 to be a good fit.
no bmx experience at all but.......
why not head down and see whats going on, and see what everyone is riding and see if you can try something out?
