Am I correct in thinking that I can use my smart trainer (tacx flow) to connect to the mobile zwift app via Bluetooth, which then transmits the data to the riding app on my laptop via wireless?
I don't really want to buy an ANT+ dongle for the laptop. Thanks
I don't think so, but willing to be corrected.
A dongle is about £12.
Correction, £9.99

As above. You need a dongle and probably a USB extension cable too. The app (certainly on android) is just a stand alone app which allows you to view certain data and carry out a limited number of functions during the ride.
OK thanks
I beg to disagree, I connect my phone to my speed/cadence sensor (bontrager duotrap) and that transmits to my mac. Only thing that I'd say is that I have about a 2 second lag so start sprinting before the start of a sprint etc to compensate.
That's with an Android phone and Macbook pro just to be clear.
Are Macbooks Ant+ enabled? My (not very old) PC definitely needs a USB stick.
This what the Google Play description says about pairing with PC: "The Zwift Mobile Link App is the perfect companion to the Zwift platform. Stay connected when you're on the go. Pair it with your computer over the same Wifi network and use it as a game controller when you're riding."
And zwift support: "In this configuration, the app acts as a bridge which sends BLE signals from your devices to Zwift. If you have an ANT+ dongle, you can mix and match BLE and ANT+ peripherals. For example, a BLE heart-rate monitor can be used in conjunction with an ANT+ smart trainer."
I'll be using a Bluetooth enabled smart trainer and wondered if anyone had managed it...
