Anyone recommend anything?

WHat kind of punctures? For thorns and debris Schwalbe marathon plus - for pinch flats just pump them up or go tubeless or tubs.

Road tyres, as above. CX tyres don't need to be as the race courses tend to be muddy fields and if you puncture you change bike. Hybrid tyres can be great. I use Continental Contacts all year round on gravel and in the woods.
