Not sure if this has been done but anyone looking to build up a child's bike might be interested in the 26" Cub Scout; EXTRA10 code too.

Yep

I went to order a 20” the other day for £72, but they wanted £20 postage as it was “bulky”

I even questioned it

Its probably why they haven’t sold out

The seatpost diameter is a pain with that 24 or I'd have snapped it up. Don't have any droppers to fit it.

So if I were to buy a frame, who sells 24" forks?

Droppers are a mystery to me, but it's a 27.2mm post isn't it? Would this work - Brand-X Ascend CX Dropper Seatpost (85 & 105mm) | Wiggle

I bought one at £120 for the eldest who has topped out at 5'2".

There was a brand x dropper with 70mm travel that's fitted as standard on the top version that was half price..

Slightly annoying to see it at this price but better geo than a 14" inbred from somewhere around 2008.

I suspect this will be the 14" inbred replacement for a while, although surprised it wasn't 650b due to forks

The cx dropper has a lever for drop bars you have to swap out. The kids dropper suits but has gone back up to 130 from 70.

Ok,

so my weakness to resist for these PSA's has struck again, and i've got a 26" cub scout frame on the way for my oldest boy.

Pretty sure 90% of his existing hardtail will transfer over, but i need to find a 26" 12x142 axle rear wheel, as im not sure his existing Mavic 223 wheel set can be converted

anybody know of a cheap rear wheel that would suit this frame

Many thanks in advance

Buy an old hope rear wheel off eBay, I imagine they do end caps that can convert it to what you want

I built some wheels using convertible ztto hubs from AliExpress, aci spokes from cyclebasket (tho superstar now do spokes) and cheap rims from superstar. It was cheaper than any decent 26 wheels I could find second hand.

I was going to buy a Cub Scout a while back for my youngest but the wheels I had and the rear axle meant I couldn't be faffed changing axles/rear wheels. Do kids really need a bolt through rear axle? Bought an NS Bikes Clash Jr frame instead...

I'm going to be running Pro2 hubs with an adapter to make the evo4 hubs.

Thanks for the PSA - my boy has had a couple of years loving the Cub Scout 24 and recent dropper - he's got enough room for a slammed 70mm! 😀

It won't be long before he's outgrown it - and I'll be sad as it's gorgeous!  He's in the middle ground on the Nukeproof height chart and I've been keeping an eye open for the next bike for a while now.

I looked at the frame but after scratching around in the parts bit, combing the web for suitable forks and wheels etc I decided to go for the full 26!  Frames sold out now anyway. The yellow looks gorgeous but red is faster.

The bike will get stored in the garage until late winter/early spring, unless he has another growth spurt before then!  What a time to be a kid!

If anyone had buyer's remorse let me know...i think this would make a great tweeners DJ build with a "steepset"

I bought and paid for one and had shipping notification.
its showing as shipped on the 6th, but zero tracking info available when following the links
"We have no tracks for your parcel yet. The status of your parcel will be updated in due course."?

Does this mean its not likely to show up?

Would be annoying as I've also purchased a rear brake and a headset in readiness.

No idea about the shipping but it comes with a headset?

20" & 24" frames for £50 each is good but shame they don't come with a fork or I'd buy them ready for my 2YO to grow into.

This normally means it has made it into the despatch area of CRC but hasn't yet been picked up by the courier. Frames get delivered by Parcelforce not Evri

good lord.. they refunded the frame but kept the 20 quid postage.. presumably as they shipped a brake separately with evri that would otherwise have been free shipping..
This PSA hasn't worked out for me sadly
