ace finish!
Ooouuuf!
Gotta love Gilbert, if only!!
😆
Great weekend of racing!
I thought Kristof had that then but a fine win for Cav. Enjoyed Gilberts late attack but he never quite got queer.
Bouhani barely stayed on there. A good weekend for the brits after the track worlds.
Cavendish: 'We talked this morning: I don't think Wilfried Peeters thought I could make it today. At least the riders believed in me.
ouch
Contract ends this year for him so I expect it'll be like this throughout the the year with Peeters trying to get in a side swipe to keep costs down and Cav putting on a show of winning and wanting more $'s..
Some good showing from Viviani.. perhaps if Sky perfect some sort of lead out he might have a wheel out front too.
Last 10km
just going to watch, while keeping a eye on the rugby.....
Hope the next 8 weeks or so are as good as this weekend, as that was some true classic racing.
2 nill to the Brits then 😀
Good stuff! Viviani's jump onto the back of Cav was huge! MTN must have worked like dogs to bring that back, kinda wanted to see Bousen Hagen at the finish. Apparently he's put on a fair bit of weight (muscle) so here's hoping he'll have a good Paris-Roubaix.
Massive win for Cav, to get Kristoff beat so convincingly and so early in the year will boost him no end.

Strade Bianche this Saturday! Then I'm off to see 'love of mud' CX film in the evening. Roll on the weekend!
Great race that.
Good race, good result!
Report back on Love of Mud tang, interested in getting to see that somehow.
Yes, pleasing that the other two didn't win it.
😀 yeah quite
Shame Valverde popped on the last 20mtrs of the climb IMO, but hey great finish that and well deserved.
Stybar is a class rider. Right now I'm hoping I can make the film, down to one car today and I don't get dibs...hoping for a lift.
Looks bad for Boonen in Paris - Nice, slow speed tumble at the back of the peleton and it might be collar bone broken 😥
Yup Boonan out.
Typical Boonan.
Call it a fall from Grace.
I do feel sorry for him, over the last few years he's been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Gutted for Boonen 🙁 , Voeckler is doing a shift though.
Shame for Boonen. 2012 seems a long time ago now.
Good sprint today.
Well for me the stage wasn't about the finish, more about Tommy and DeLaPlace. 2 epic Frenchmen doing what they do best.. Pop off the front and ride until you get caught.
Perfect.
And pan flat too, no wind but plenty of tree lined roads only the French do best.
Great to see Bradley gesticulating wildly to the Bunch too.. 8)
Arghhhh FFS!!! I'm bloody gutted for Boonen or more what he'd bring to the races coming up, what a complete ****!
A well timed and much needed win today in TA ahead of Milan Sanremo this weekend. Much anticipation here 🙂
(^^^ hopefully avoiding spoilers)
That was a strong finish! Bloody grim, would have been a DNF from me haha!

Re-watched 2014 last night to get in the mood, forecast looks grim again 😀
Yup gonna be a good one this year.
Really hard to look past the obvious choice of Kristoff if the weather is shite.
Really hard to look past the obvious choice of Kristoff if the weather is shite.
I think the forecast is pretty shite.
Kristoff is an obvious choice until you check out the start list. A bit spoilt for choice with potential winners. Should be a cracking race.
i would have said cavendish if he hadn't had his south africa incident. Don't know now. Stybar maybe. Stannard to drop swift at the finish?
Stannard's a good outside bet but it'll definitely be a sprinter this year with the parcours being a little less lumpy that in recent years. Depending on how Cav recovered from his South African bug, he has to be one of the favourites. If he can stick with Sagan who'll be shepherded over the Cipressa and up the Poggio then he'll beat him. He was climbing well in Oman(?) before that and had the beating of Kristoff in KBK.
Jens Debusschere as another outside bet?
I need 5 choices, I know it's not in the rules but I need 5, not a top 5 just a spread - just in case.
Philippe Gilbert
Greg Van Avermart
Zdenek Stybar
Juan Jose Lobato
Stefano Pirazzi (or Enrico Battaglin)
Ok so thats 6, so what...
Don't forget the Rapha comp, guess the winning time:
http://pages.rapha.cc/milan-san-remo-comp
6:44:13
I need 5 choices,
Cancellara
Eddie B H
Kwiatkowski
Matthews
Cav
All behind Kristoff
As said, Kristoff must be the favourite but I have a feeling Sagan will finally bag it.
I really can't get excited about Milan>San Remo like the other classics. I don't know whether it's the last 20km which are the telling moments but are just a bit too urban, being around San Remo.
I really hope that it is truly attritive and that there are maybe 10 riders in the last 20km in a couple of groups fighting it out having endured the weather but ending in bright sunshine poking through broken clouds, with a non-sprinter taking the finish.
Maybe even a young rider or a relatively unknown one... or Stannard because he looks like a MAMIL.
I guessed a slightly longer time than 6.44 as the weather forecast is a bit rubbish. Should be a good one though, so many possible winners of of that lot.
Thing is the worse the weather the better the Flemish/Walloons go 😆
I'd really like a bolshy Italian to go off the front, someone like Garztelli or Scarponi of old... But they all seem to had faded into the long Italian Sun. That's why I chose a couple of Bardiani riders, those two have form as well...
Ciao Bella.
As we're talking winners I'd like to see either a Ben Swift sprint victory (bloody close last year and talk is he's been working insanely hard), a Cancellara power braaaaaaap ('cos you know, it's awesome!) or Nibali to attack on the last descent and shock everyone with not only his awesome skillz but some awesome form he's been hiding for just this moment (because I'm a fan buoy and have a man crush on him...)! Erm that'll do!
Another preview over at inrng. Can't wait.
Halfway for the break.
In many ways women's cycling is so much better, turn up, rip the legs off each other then go home.
Yay, Pirazzi's in the break..
At least I got something right.. Will they last out there ?
Nope.
Sprint finish I reckon.
I am slightly disappointed Cavandish didn't have stronger legs after 300k in the rain.
Right 40km to go, game on.
