I needed a new front gear cable for one of the kids bikes, so last night whilst pottering around ASDA I thought I would see if they had any.
They sell a full brake and gear cable set for £4! Includes inners, outer, end ferrules etc. You probably wouldn't put them on your best bike but for one of your hacks you cannot go wrong!

Not sure if they are the same, but I bought some from ASDA for my kids bikes, and the outers didn't have an internal liner, which meant that the outer rusted (internally), and I had to replace them.

I use the Bell chains on my singlespeed. £3 and they last forever! (well, on my 2nd one in about 4 years 🙂 )
