Well, only if you want to of course....
It's a lot of fun trying to find your lines with all the fallen leaves...

its sooooo shit now with all the leaves. i cant even ride my normal routes due to leaves. i cant see any roots or rock gardens. i have to wait a little before i can ride again.
pooped, only just bought my swampthings too
Don't let that hold you back Nick, just stay a little lose and let the wheels find the lines for you ๐
Just shot this at the weekend:
Still work-in-progress as there's a few more sections I want to add to it, but that might have to wait a while now as it's snowing pretty hard!
Could have been embarassing - we drove up and parked at the base of a chairlift up on the mountain. By the time we'd done the riding and shooting, then climbed back up to our chalet, it was dark and we couldn't be bothered getting the van out to go back up for the car. We forced ourselves to do it as there was some snow forecast over night. Good job we did as it hasn't stopped snowing since and that could have been our car very publicly stuck there for the whole winter!
sounds and looks good but i ride a little more hairy things than that, mainly dh.
so the trail i need to see a bit better... good vids tho.
need a helm cam!

Sainte Foy is about flowing singletrack rather than DH, although there are plenty of trails that are fun on a DH bike. That said, there are at least 2 sections in that video which get walked by a majority of guests, the camera, as always, flattens things out a lot!
Lots of DH trails scattered around the other resorts in the valley, we do a kind of road-trip DH week - ride somewhere different every day.
I've got a helmet cam, but I kind of went off it - all the footage looks the same and it gets pretty dull after a while. It's a lot more work setting things up to shoot with a tripod though!
Stevo,
What video camera did you use?
What video camera did you use?
Canon MV850i - it's about 4 years old (maybe 5!) and is DV tape. Very good quality though - I reckon hard-disc/solid state camcorders are only just overtaking DV stuff now.
I have some decent video editing software which means I can re-size and reformat to suit Youtube myself, rather than letting them mangle it!
Whats the bike Steve?
I enjoyed that. Thanks.
The time difference between the two vids was a week. Same woods just different trails. Shame they are so short but it does mean you can practice them over and over again with very little walking back to the top penalties. I can spend hours there.
Leaves are great- I am really enjoying the slip-tastic corners. The wet on the local bridges and woodwork is a bit scary though.
Shot 2 weeks ago. The editing is a work in progress and it's my first try with proper video and editing software so any (constructive) criticism is welcome. It's 6mins so might be too long for some but (I think) the last minute is the best.
Whats the bike Steve?
Orange Alpine 160, ideal for our kind of trails. 8)
Meant to add on the camera description - my Canon came with a wide-angle lense attachment, without which I don't think I would be able to shoot this kind of "ride-by" footage. The default zoom is too tight and you just don't get enough trail in the frame. When I'm doing this kind of shooting, I have the wide-angle lens on in about 90% of the shots.
Thanks Stevo, for the reply.

Doug - Manu Chao.. stunning coastal riding.. good weather.. I need that in my life..
Dougbasque, what a great video - that water looks so nice, did you use some colour enhancement program or something?
ds300, the colours are as they came off the camera, I shot mostly early morning / late night but that was all.
yunki, Manu Chao are amazing. I had Bongo Bong in my head as I was making the film.
Great vid Doug, i really need to come down and pay you a visit some time! I've actually spent a fair bit of time in the Basque country (lived in Tarbes for a year and got down to Biarritz/Anglet area regularly) - great to see there's good riding there (I mostly went for the surfing!).
Last weekend, in the Alps...
EDIT: how do you embed the vid properly then??!
Stevo, the surfing's great, I came here surfing a long time ago. I've not been in the water for over a year though, just too much biking! Give me a shout any time you fancy, there's always a space here.
Ash, nice vid, it's easy you just need to copy the URL and hit the video button up there. It doesn't work in the preview but when you hit post it does it.
Here you go....
stevomcd - nice vid, and do you live nearby? If so I'm jealous
