As I have been off ill for a while, yesterday was my first warm, evening ride for ages. I had forgotten about one of the side effects of this type of riding.
I am ok on the bike, warm-ish but within normal tolerances. When I get home, have a shower and try to resume normal life my temperature soars to stratospheric heights. My wife insists I radiate heat like I'm in meltdown and won't come anywhere near me. However tired i am, I can't sleep while i am so hot and for e.g. last night, I didn't start to cool down until about 2.30 (I finished riding at 8).
This happens every summer so it is nothing to do with my recent illness. I was wondering whether anyone else shares this phenomenon.
I get this too after running, particularly if I'm in a rush to get back to work. 2 things I have found to help.
1. Try to chill off before you shower- plonk yourself down with a book/tv, do some stretching until you stop sweating.
2. Have a frigid shower at this point.
Get out before you go blue!
agree with cooling down properly before you go indoors - sitting on a step outside the house or soemthing is good (or *gasps* cleaning bike)
