[#1266456]

I'm buying a set of XTR Discs which come with 160 c/l rotors which I will be swapping for 6 bolt XTs in 203/180 form but I'm not sure what adaptors I need. I have a Futureshock S120 fork which is PM. So can I get one adaptor or do I need a PM to IS adaptor and then another to fit the 203 rotor? Also the same on the back - I assume this is IS mount and I'll just need an adaptor to go up to 180?

Speaking to Merlin, the guy said I can just order no.5 and 7 from THIS list, but looking on CRC they don't seem to have the same options so I wanted to check before ordering.

Any help appreciated!

It depends on what calipers they are supplying you with. XTR calipers come in either IS or post mount. I would confirm with Merlin as to exactly what calipers they are sending you.

Just checked the Merlin website and it says IS only so the adaptors they suggest WON'T work.

Thanks MisterP, so would THIS be the right one for the rear?

I can't see an obvious solution for the front on CRC but then I'm not too clued up on these things!

Whilst they're great value it seems it might not be easy to configure to the spec I want, perhaps I'll go for the Hope X2s after all...

IF the calipers are IS, then you'd need one of these for the front:-

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13735

and a +20mm IS-IS adaptor:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13736

For the rear, you'd need a +20mm IS-IS

would look a bit of a mess! I'd be tempted to use some other brakes.

IF the calipers are PM, then you'd need one of these on the front:-

and one of these on the rear:-

That would be correct for the rear yes. Unfortunately I don't know of an adaptor to run a 203mm rotor though, could you cope with 180 front and rear?

If you want XTR I would have a look around, I reckon you could still get a good deal but with the configuration you want.

Cheers CP, I think I' going to leave it. It's a good deal if you can take them as-is but I'd be messing around too much swapping stuff etc so it's not really worth it.

Thanks for the help ๐Ÿ˜€

if you use a post to IS adapter, it adds 20mm to the original mounts disc size.

if your fork is 160mm post, using a post-IS adapter will mean you have to run a 185 disc, although you could add a second adapterunder thefirst adapter to get it up to 203 i wouldnt reccomend bolting 2 adapters together for safety reasons.

most frames have IS rear mounts, so a standard adapter up the rotor size your going to use should be fine.
