Took my neutered Rockhopper for it's first SS ride this morning. I found the hills we actually OK - it's just a case if attack attack attack. However slight inclines were a lot harder to deal with. Places where I would normally rest up a bit in an easier gear had to be really pushed through.
I liked how light and responsive the bike felt too.
I'm a bit nervous about riding it with others as I'm probably a fair bit slower on it.
I think my beard has grown too!
Never mind your beard watch your thighs grow!

Its addictive!
...although I've got a geared bike in reserve for bigger nastier stuff
Another weirdo out slowing everyone else down...
you are only slower when you are not pedalling
Oh yes , I still have my shiny new Orange 5 for bigger rides.
welcome to the church of singlespeed, you may now partake of the holy tipple (anything alcoholic counts, I found windowlene is quite good) and worship at the altar of silly beards, spd sandals and freak bikes with big wheels.
But don't commute on it, all the everyday commuters you flew past on your fancy racing bike weeks earlier will sail past you as you twiddle like mad down the long tarmac straight to your office.
Or maybe that was just me...
I tried SS but I'm far too unfit for it for anything off road. I can't even handle 1x9 on most big climbs. Need the granny to sit and spin! Shame as I love the clean look of SS and 1x9 bikes, but just can't ride em ๐ Only SS I'll ever have will be for jumping (so a bmx :P)
