I have completely forgotten which way the bolt undoes, it's the right hand drive side and it's an allen key bolt which is used to tighten the crank on. Once it's out I still need to use a conventional crank extractor (albeit with a little cap on the end) to get the crank off.
Usual undo-way?
Yes. The allen key bolt unscrews counter clock wise on both sides. And the tool screws in clockwise, both parts. If you don't have the little cap thingy, use a couple of 5p coins instead, to give the tool something to push against. Make sure you thread the outer part in carefully, and all the way, so as to not strip the crank arm threads. I use a bit of grease on the threads when screwing it in, and make sure it goes in square. Little bit of copper grease on the BB axle splines when refitting prevents seizure.
Brilliant, thanks very much 🙂
