Okay, got my 5.10 impact lows and my Shimano DX30 pedals. I hear peole say you should put the longer pins in. Is that all of them or just in particular positions. I'm sure it's down to personal preference but what's a good starting point?

I use 5050 xx's and went for long pins on the corners, short pins on the middle line. Seems to work. Although on my DH bike they seem to have all become short pins due to numerous pedal strikes

Try them with the long pins around the outside of the pedal, I use different pedals but it works for me.

cheers guys. Is it that too many long pins reduce traction or does it get too grippy?

I put some 11mm screws in the corners of my DMRs to make the pedal more concave.strangely, when the DMRs wore out I swapped to ancient Kore pedals with 'normal' pins which are fine.
