Second ride of cafael last weekend, spotted a turn off for pedalhounds. Nearly nearly went that way. I know it's graded black but just how hard is it? Xc scale, full Lycra, and I don't find the need to drop the saddle at all. Typically in the top 10% on trail centre descents.

Not keen on gap jumps or kickers with a massive lip, happy on drop offs and wedge type fast jumps.

The majority of people in the car park seemed to be Fluoro storm troopers so I'm thinking avoiding it was probably sensible?

Give it a go and walk the bits you don't fancy?

TBH it's a nice ride, but it's perhaps not worth doing 90% of the climb up Cafal for single descent - you can do 2 of the Cafal descents and cut into Pedalhounds a bit further down.

If you're in the top 10% for the Cwmcarn descents you'll probably love pedalhounds.

From memory, it's just fairly steep (compared to the trail descents) with some decent size drops which are avoidable.

Is it really graded Black? There is nothing too sketchy but its a bit rutted out at the moment. I did it a couple of weeks ago after Cafall. Just went up the fire road past the start of Cafall and stayed right until the start of Hideout. In no hurry to do it again.

In my experience/opinion it's OK. Not worth it if you've pedalled to the top of cafall.

The top half is much more fun than the bottom, which is just wide open and full throttle with some tables etc.

If you've never done it have a go. Also if you get to the fire road where you pedal up to powder house, carry on up the fire road for a while and you get the final 1/2 or 1/3 of pedal hounds for a taster.
