I've only just figured out where the huge step up and drop in the quarry near the top of pitch hill is, after riding Surrey hills for 15 years...
I turned up today and it's all been bulldozed.
Does anyone know what's happened / why they got demolished?

I would assume the usual - private land, landowner turns a blind eye, area becomes popular, people start digging more, area all over social media, area becomes more popular, more digging, bigger jumps, accidents, risk and hassle to landowner gets bigger, bulldozers.
