[#1577252]

Hi, I have a pair of new (to me) XCAM RC40 forks and I can't fit my discs to them, the XCAMs seem to bolt in from the side and the discs bolt in from the back.....WTF ??

What do I need ? I am sure it will be some bit of metal to link them all together......

Thanks
Sean

I've had no problem.
The disc goes on the wheel, the calliper goes on the fork.
Sounds like you've got a post mount calliper (newer hope, shimano, hayes, avid) and the forks are IS mounts. You just need an IS to post mount adaptor.

Pictures and model specifics (brakes) would be helpful for a comprehensive suggestion though.

Yeah, I meant the caliper (dozy me) so the post mount calipers are newer are they ? I'll check on CRC or the like then. Thanks (other) Sean !

Cheers

Ahem....should have checked tool box, I also have loads to choose from.....what an idiot !

Question, can you stick a 185mm IS extension onto a post mount adaptor, or is it (like I think it will be) too dangerous have 2 adaptors together ?

Yes, you can do it. Just threadlock the bolts and do em up tight! ๐Ÿ™‚

You can but you'd have to make sure that the post to IS adaptor didn't also affect the rotor size as most do (eg with both, you may need a 205mm disc rather than a 185)
