after test riding a 5 and a gyro i have decided to go for the gyro, does anybody know if there is much difference between the 2013 bike and the 2014 bike

None at all. Orange don't really do model years. They brought out a new Alpine and a new Five (in 650b and 29er flavours) last year. So, logic would suggest that the Gyro is next on the list for an update, but that's just a guess.

No difference in the frame but in full bikes the spec went down in 2014 at the same price point.
