Few questions on the orange 5.
So it comes wirh an rp 32 shock.
How good does thd pro pedal function.
Is it as good as full lock out and if not is it easy to convert to a full lockout float.
Anx finally.
Its tango orange in colour. Was this colour available on a 2009 frame ?

most colours are avilable.

I had an RP23 on my heckler and demo'd the 5 with one on. You needed to use it on the full setting in the Pro Pedal on mode to make it lockout well - that was the set up done by the rep to.

Not sure Tango orange was available then. What size is the seatpost? Mine was either 2008 or 2009 with a 27.2mm seatpost, the next year they increased the diameter. Anyway the choices then were Mandarin or Neon orange. I went for Mandarin which was a little bit tango.

It was 2011 before they moved to 30.9mm seat posts and tapered head tube. 2010 was the same as 2009.

No tango orange, mandarin and neon only as mentioned. I have a feeling mandarin was standard on the Pro in 2009. ๐Ÿ˜•

RP23's are very good imo. Pro Pedal is not a lockout so don't expect it to act as one. It does work well though and I never felt I missed lockout when I had one.

pro pedal is nothing like lockout it firms up the suspension it does not stop it.

Its ok but it is not DW linkage or VPP as it is single pivot.

Descends beautifully IMHO

2011, time flies! If Mandarin was the stock colour for the pro in 2009 then mine was 2009 - I bought an SE but asked for it in Mandarin and can remember deciding the pro just wasn't bling enough for me.

Edit: and as above, pro-pedal is very god but is not a lockout. It might feel like one on a lot of bikes with more efficient suspension but not on a Five ๐Ÿ™‚ FTR my Five was pretty good at climbing as well as descending!

Lockout probably won't make a five climb any better than propedal. You get much more traction if the suspension is working for you, you just want to avoid the worst of the energy wasting suspension dive and Propedal wil do that just fine.

The Five climbs very well IMHO. Unless you are climbing on road, I would have thought one would get on better using the appropriate propedal setting than a full lockout, especially over rooty sections etc.

FWIW I only ever use the weakest PP setting for climbing and have it turned off altogether for descending. But I'm only 73kgs if that make a difference.

EDIT: (2009 Five with RP23)
