on a 6 day offroad touring ride, over some hilly terrain (dales, nym), what kind of daily mileage would you be looking at.
carrying your gear for the week and also bearing in mind that it is a holiday........ ๐Ÿ˜€

average speed maybe 6-8mph and then how many hours you're prepared to ride a day really.

yeah 40 for me really. If it was a one-off, then up to 80-100... but for day after day, 40-50 tops.

40 as an average for me - but very variable as to terrain. On a tour a few years ago did 15 miles one day and 60 the next - in the Same time / effort

I did 500 miles in 3 weeks, 4 panniers on, in the Rockies.

Gradient and surface will vary your average massively. For example the Loch Lomondside section of the WHW is walking pace but the section from Tyndrum to the Kingshouse is three times faster.

Recent weather will also affect speed on natural trails, particularly on a laden bike. Dry as a bone dirt trails are far quicker than muddy quagmires.

Best to post the precise route and ask someone who has ridden it of late.

I bother about the altitude gain much more than the distance. 2000m a day is a good average, 1500 is easy and 3000 is hard.
