Had a wee issue while servicing some X-Fusion Slides and spoke to a mechanic at Upgrade. Managed to sort it but along the way he mentioned the (small thin rubber) o-rings which I brushed over. Now I'm putting the forks back together I'm wondering where these go - aside the foot nuts presumably, and likely outside rather than in. But having tried that it has just mangled it. Are they needed? What's the correct positioning? An exploded tech doc would be good but doesn't seem to exist.
I've not worked with slides, but I have seen o rings placed on the bottom of both shafts before the lowers are put on. This was only for forks with threaded shafts and that use nuts to tighten. anything on the outside of the fork lower tended to be a nylon or plastic compression washer and cover, intended to be a bit mangled once installed.
