Anyone use it in their camelbak? I am thinking of getting some to take to Canada with me but wasn't sure how many tablets I need.

It says on their website that 1 tablet should be mixed with 500ml of water: This would mean that I would need 6 tablets per bladder, which seems rather alot. Is this right? For a 3 week trip this would mean alot of tablets being used.

I used to use 2/3 tabs. seemed enough TBH. Gone back to SIS Go though, as you can measure it more accurately, and it's a better product

Now the sun is out I've been using them again and find on a 3 to 4 hour cycle I only use 1 dropped in my 2L bladder after about 2 hours. Doing the SDW in a day, I only ever used about 3. I'm a big fan of Nuun and highly recommend them.

BTW I find if I use them from the start, it makes me want to wee which kind of defeats the object.

Thanks for the info, I thought 6 tablets/3L bladder sounded rather alot.

Still undecided between Nuun and SIS Go, though.

I find they make a huge amount of difference to long days - although I only stick two tablets in about 1.5-2 litres. I don't like sugary stuff in the camelbak as I find I just want to drink water when I get thirsty, not sticky stuff.

GO has carbs and stuff in too, whereas nuun is just electrolytes, so you'd have to get your energy from somewhere else.

i find nuun easier to drink than GO when working hard - not as sickly, but beware of the fizz when you drop the tablet in water, i got an eyeful when i took a slurp out of a bottle for the first time!

1 tab in 2 litres for normal riding, 4 tabs in 2 litres for racing...

I use 2 tablets in 2-3 litres of water - just for hydration when I'm on rides where I also stop to eat often. For epics I use Go for the energy content, and I like the watermelon flavour.

I recently drop 6 into a 3lt camlbak for a long hard ride (Colne valley Challenge) and felt very nauseous after the first hour – not sure if it was connected – as I have also done 7hrs on the road bike dropping one tab in to 500ml every second drinks bottle with no ill effects

I've tried Zym tablets for my last couple of rides, one being 4 1/4hr adventure race in the Brecon Beacons which was pretty much non-stop in 20+ degrees.

Went with two tablets in a 3l bladder. Very subtle citrus taste, does the job and I don't get the evil stomach cramps which I get after drinking a similar quantity of energy drink.

zym and nuun for hydration , torq natural for fuel

i find nuun easier to drink.

Kept me hydrated during a race in 43 degrees , dont think it was that at 10UTB last week and sis Go did a poor job ....

But purely my experiance , everyones bodys are different

I've been using nuun and torq natural organic for a couple of years and it works pretty well. Got me round the marmotte anyway.
Hi5, however, given out on the Dragon Ride last year had me lying on the side of the road in agony with stomach cramps before I was able to stick my fingers down my throat to hurl it back up again. Cost me about 20 minutes.

I'm a big Nuun fan after using plain water in bottles and camelbaks for the last 20 years!

Anyone found a cheap source of Nuun? My cheapest source so far is Probikekit and use discount code which is kicking about the net. Get them for less than a fiver a tube delivered.

I've used Nunn a fair bit but to be honest its a bit pricey and I don't think I'll bother getting anymore after my current supply runs out.

Its cheaper than lucozade? £5 gets you 12 tablets x 500mls so roughly 42 pence per bottle.

Saying that I only use it for long races or hangovers and if I used every ride/run then the price would start adding up.

to the OP, suppose you got to decide what you want first. Energy drink or hydration drink. Can't really compare SIS Go or owt like that with Nuun as they are meant to do different things.

I would also dilute more than the recommended amount if in a hydration pack, or alternate between water and nuun if in a bottle. Can get a bit much albeit easier on the stomach than carb drinks.

Worth pointing out it contains sodium benzoate, incase you are worried about such things...

sorry had to google sodium benzoate, wikopedia told me everything.

Unfortunatly I didn't take the claims as seriously as I should

Professor Peter Piper of the University of Sheffield claims that sodium benzoate by itself can damage and inactivate vital parts of DNA in a cell's mitochondria.

wiseGEEK: There have been some health concerns about the combination of sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid or vitamin C. When the two are mixed, they can form the chemical benzene, which is carcinogenic.

<Goes off to check if Nuun has Vit C>

Vitamin C 37.5

Bugger

Sorry, should have explained that the choice is electrolyte tablets + energy bar; OR SIS Go, that has both.

Think I will probably stick with GO, although I do like the idea of tablets, rather than big bottles of powder.

Use Nuun as directed. Not cheap but I have had a lot of problems keeping hydrated in quite moderate heat. Works well

are you my twin AP .... i got handed the wrong bottle by a team mate at glentress SXC and was convulsing at the top of the climb after drinking big slurps of High 5 4:1 instead of Nuun + torq. Cost me 7 places amongst other things - but im not a bitter guy lifes too short

I use the orange flavoured NUUN tablets 3 in 2 litres of water and eat 70% cocoa chocolate for energy. Those powdered mix things make me heave tried loads of different types and flavours but I always end up on all fours coughing up my guts.

Meh, you are going to struggle to remove a carboxyl group from the aromatic ring, especially with nothing but vitamin C. ANy benzene produced would surely be minute. I wouldn't worry, especially not if you happened to cycle near a running car at any point...
