Mountain biking newbie here. A friend told me about this site and said the best way to make friends quickly is to start a new thread about which are the best mtb bike tyres to use. Is this some sort of code?

Actually - I'm not that stoopid, ------ ! ๐Ÿ˜€

Seriously - I am new to mountain biking and have just moved to the Shaftesbury area, on the Wiltshire side. Judging by the countryside I imagine there are amazing rides around me, but with limited exploring time I have not found many yet. Anyone in this area willing to share some local knowledge and/or who would like to go for a ride?

cheers.

Do the SPAM boys get out that far west? Nice bunch when I've ridden with them and their events.

I've ridden Wylye Valley / great ridge areas straddling the A303 which aren't so far .. and there are a few Longleat locals here I think too.

I have a friend in that area. Send me an email (in profile), and I can set you up with a guide.

Hopefully someone brassneck has suggested will be along to give a better response.

Welcome to the wonderful world of MTBing, btw. Have you started spending lots of money yet? ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for the replies so far. I didn't realise that I wouldn't be able to change the thread title after the desired effect...

Funny thing - after posting this I found out that one of my work colleagues used to live in Semley and knows a few trails around here.

SaxonRider - I'll email you. I would very much appreciate a guide. No money to spend yet. I inherited a Trek Fuel which is about 10yrs old but well cared for. I'll get going before I consider investing much, although I do need to get myself some way of carrying water...

LOL, had started reading & thought you were just another of those so so clever trolls ๐Ÿ™„ , very good.

A hydro pack of some sort for carry water, camelbaks are very popular, but even cheap and cheerful decathlon/tesco's backpacks (with bladder) will get you going without costing the world.
