I went out and bought myself (avec birthday funds) some '09 Mavic Cross Rides for my Cove Handjob today, I'm very impressed with them.

Can't wait for the inaugral ride tomorrow.

Also bought a Shimano SLX 11-32t cassette, it was 8 quid cheaper than the equivalent XT and only fractionaly heavier 🙂

What makes you say that, is there something in the pic that makes it look worn?

Gears are fine and it doesn't skip at all.

On another note, the wheels are great, noticeable difference over the old set up, much quicker to spin up/accelerate, the bike feels livelier on the trail too 😀

he doesn't want you to rapidly wreck your shiny new cassette with an old "stretched" chain

steve_b77 - did your wheels come with the "doofer" for tightening the rear spindle ? I bought some crossrides used recently & had to track down the spacer for behind the cassette & now need to fathom how to fit the rear one without the tool that I am told comes with them.
