My workmate has seen the light and is going to buy a new mtb on the bike to work scheme through Halfords - his budget is £550 max. Your hardtail suggestions please...
a few years ago my brother got their £500 hardtail, can't think of the name now though. We did a fair bit of shopping about and found none of the other/big brands could match it for the level of kit, rides nice too. Boardman bikes also probably worth a look
Kona, mine is from 1994 and still going strong cost £465 then!

My mate has an earlier model than that, and his has been nothing but good to him, and that includes proper off road riding.
He could use the other £50 for some extra bits?
