https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bdlm_w0C_UN-oGQgqGAwFMtyD5ImHT3Q Sorry if this a dumb question. Can the rim in the link below be run tubeless? It's an alex comp cc. My LBS says no, but I just wondered why not?
I haven't followed your link but suffice to say, back in the deep dark first decade of the new millennium no-one made what today would be called tubeless. Mavic made UST, some folks made UST tyres and a few people started calling their rims tubeless compatible (which would evolve to become tubeless as you know it but really wasn't anything different to the next rim at the time).
Many of us early adopters ran tubeless on everything and didn't die.
Setup might be more difficult (it might not) but your rims (and non tubeless tyres) will bodge just fine eventually.
(the Lbs is sort of right, but the correct answer (no) isn't the real a answer (it'll bodge but yeah))
Rims strips will do it.
I use these:
People have also done it with an old inner tube.
What tires are you planning on using?
I have an on one smorgasboard on front and a thinner 2.1 Hutchinson toro on back
