Somebody is going to have to explain an inverted bottom bracket. Possible explanations from my head:

Inside out - threads on outside - next generation of external bearings; they're so external they're still at home.
Upside down - bit like a left handed tea cup
back to front threads - unscrews as you pedal for that extra slack feel.
Top to bottom - comes into its own when cranking berms.

Somebody else's explanation is possibly the correct one.

Mark rapped my knuckles last week over my Glentress post which vanished, then reappeared in an edited format.

I would agree with forge that my intervention in that thread mentioned was over and beyond "reasonable".

Trust me, if the mods had a problem this thread would be toast. Si could have dropped it in as a press release "New Chumba VF2 frame lands in UK" and got press on all the sites very easily though.

Or, someone could just start a post along the lines of "Anyone got/ridden/have photos of one of those Chumba VF2s?"

Scienceofficer - it was more interesting than sorting a shed load of Thule fitting kits I seem to have and then trying to remember what cars they were for so believe it or not a light relief. Add to that I do get a bit hacked off with protectionism offered to certain brands and designers and felt that it was harsh that this post had been singled out as commercial spam when so many others are allowed to pass.

Brant - I was looking for your comments on the Glentress thread and the bits I wanted to use had been removed ๐Ÿ™ but there was some excellent self marketing wrapped in a I really liked a trail thread ๐Ÿ™‚

OT: apologies to OP

Sorry no just 3010, 1050, 1051, 1323 and 3028 attached to some bars ๐Ÿ™‚ But that's advertising and should be in the classifieds ๐Ÿ˜‰

There on a timed start for e-bay I'll post up when there is 12 hours to go as per the rules ๐Ÿ™‚ (be about 10 days time)

Si, where do you stand on letting people test out your (own, it seems ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) demo bikes?

IWH, once i have the bike built up it will be available for demo. There will be a small cost which is refundable if you buy a frame/bike.

Drop me a mail at info@progressive-bikes.co.uk if you want to put your name on the list for a demo.

A press release will be sent out soon to all the mags and a few magazines have expressed an interest in taking the VF2 for demo and test, so expect to see some reviews soon ish...

Oh and the inverted BB, its a wide 73mm BB shell with the mounting on the BB shell for the swing arm, most manufactures do it the other way round, if that makes sense?

Ah - I've got you. The swing arm pivot goes through frame/swing arm/frame, rather than swing arm/frame/swing arm. I'm not an engineer, but I'd have thought that would make the swing arm a bit more flexy?

What size will the demo be? Looks like I'm a Small on the Chumba sizing chart(medium on everyone else's).

You got it! Chumba claim it is stiffer to do it their way. Looking at the frame you can see why, it just looks stiffer, but i will ask Chumba to give me the engineering behind their claims.

The demo bike is a medium, depends what you normally ride i suppose to what size will suit you best.

Just waiting for an XT group set and then i can build it up.

Hi chaps

Just been doing the usual 30mins of trawling the sites for new bike porn and came across (well not literally) chumba. Not seen em before.

The VF2 looks like sex on a stick, so came on here for search about em, found this thread which seems to be less about the frame and more about bitching for the sake of bitching.

Yes that bloke does seem to go through his stock, but then again I'd rather have somebody sell me stuff that he'd gladly use himself.

Mildred has it bang on - shiny bits, must play, must show

Si - any chance of a large frame for a demo bike?

Whoooa those forks are overkill for the VF2. It looks way too slack. I was tinkering with the idea of 36's on a my Chumba XCL nevermind a VF2!! ๐Ÿ™‚
