Nice.

Keep an eye on the stem - I had one that cracked.

Hairline on the main body between the bolt holes.

I like how you decorated the room to match the new bike.

I'm not a big Commencal fan but I do like that. Nice flared seat stays and clean lines, good simple colour scheme - light and under a grand. Good work.

Neat. Simple. Like that, more than I think I should. 🙂

Looks nice that, clean and poised! 4lbs lighter than my carbon HT though, I think I need some new scales

Edit: Google suggests that my tyres make up for 2lbs of that difference!

Thank you. Yes those tyres are light but at 2.1 width maybe not very grippy...
I was comparing the spec with a Whyte HT at around £1,600.

But I was very lucky. The wheels were £120/pair form On-one but only because I found a 15mm REBA with a straight steerer tube that was exactly the right lenght down to the last mm but I had to find a 40mm stack stem for that (noted on the stem front btw, might be fragile). The forks were £165 from here SH but clearly hardly used and perfect functionally. Frame was £200 direct from Andorra.

Rest of the bits bought in various clearances and mainly from CRC.

Goes to show, a custom bike for less than new complete bikes.

First ride today. It was perfect, nothing fell off, rattled, came loose, broke, creaked or squeaked ! A really quick bike, amazed how much better the 120mm 15mm hub Rebas are compared to my 100mm 9mm forks.

Not quite as clean now tough. Will re-torque everything and should be good to go.

But think how quick it'd be with proper size wheel's!

Or how slow if I keep having to accelerate it. Which in my type of (essentially) technical riding I do most of the time. Otherwise I'd probably stay on the road.
Or go back to BMX.

Can't be that technical if you use tyres like that pal..

It was very technical particularly BECAUSE of the tyres.

Watch that freehub, they are made of cheese. Broke two in under 100 miles, couldn't trust the third, so relaced an Easton hub in its place and all good so far . Other than that, looks really good.

Cheers TJ. It looks suspiciously like the one I have on my older Shimano wheels (MT56) which has proved reliable but they must be different as the freewheel sounds different when coasting.

Now with custom fork stickers - how very sad.

Indeed. However, I'm more interested in TJ's reincarnation, as highlighted above.

Those frames are very prone to cracking. Keep an eye on the bb chainstay join and seat stay/seat tube.

I really like how clean and tidy the bike looks.

Did you do the build yourself?

I have no experience of any of your parts cracking.

Ouch. Never heard of any. Do you have any stats or source ?

I did most of the build apart from BB adapter.

I didn't like the original sticker location so changed things around. Both legs are symetrical sticker wise btw.

Nice, I like it.

Looks good dirty and abused, its got wheels and its a mountain bike, not much to worry about there. I've got two 29er's, but the important thing is its a bike and is being used in anger.

Lovely.
Regards

Denis

Odd choice of tyre - heavy, but no grip. You could have had something far lighter if you wanted to slide all over the place, or something with loads more grip for the same weight.

Looks good though, I like the fork decals.

Cheers. The tyres are 575g each on the scales which is OK for a 2.1 I thought. They are quite grippy for "summer" use.
