[#6799295]

Well 1st new bike for a couple of years and 1st ever road bike.

It'll be getting kept safe until the roads become salt free but well happy with the way it looks and standard kit, red Look Keo Classic pedals getting fitted tomorrow.
I think I'll change the white bar tape for black perforated with red behind and I will get some carbon rims on Novatec disc hubs from LB when funds allow in March(should drop a kilo off the weight).

It's a 2015 Giant Defy Advanced 1 size XL, bought it from Pedalon bikes who were brilliant from start to finish, got loads of free stuff as part of the deal, were quick to reply to emails, answered all my daft questions and let me change my order mid way through. Ordered Friday and arrived today, turns out it was their last XL and Giant won't be getting any more in until May/June.

I see the flooring and washing up bowl match the bike paint job....

All my bikes are XL's but even by my standards that looks huge! Cracking bikes though.

Weather up here is icy cold.

I will decide on flipping the stem once I've given it a test ride but can wait for now.

I know it looks massive, partly the rubbish angle I took the photo from but I'm 6'4" and it's the size that fits me, there's no chance I was going down a size so it looked better but would've been too small to be comfortable.
When you're tall gate sized frames are something that are unavoidable. I think as gates go it's lovely. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was expecting you to be nearer 7ft! I'm 6ft2" & ride a M/L in Giant

It's the massive headtube/downtube gusset that makes it look big I think. But if it fits you that's all that matters!

Yep, same here on my Giant Trance frame.
They were a doddle to deal with and loved all the freebies.

Looks nice that.

I had similar comments when I posted pics of my XXL Roubaix.

I thought about getting a L, so it looked better in pics, but couldn't justify the Chiropractor bills..... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nice Bike there.

I hope someone here can help me out a little... I'm struggling which size to go for regarding the Defy Advanced Pro 0, should I go for L or XL????

Here are my measurements according to competitivecyclist.com instructions:

Actual Inseam:94 Cm
Trunk:65 Cm
Forearm:37 Cm
Arm:74 Cm
Thigh:65 Cm
Lower Leg:63 Cm
Sternal Notch:156 Cm
Total Height:191 Cm

I am also looking at the Cannondale Synapse but I am unable to tell which size (58 or 61) that would fit me the best.

I'm looking for a bike that can be used for long distance races (>200km) races but also for some shorter distances.

Anyone got some sizing advice regarding these two models? For the Defy I am a Large when looking at height. But my inseam length points to a XL. For the cannondale I cannot find any size charts.

The Synapse seems to have quite similar frame geometry except to the seat tube length.

And No, I am not able to visit a local bike store and try each bike and size out...

Cheers nick, am delighted with it.
So far changed the bar tape, saddle, wheels, tyres and tubes resulting in over 2 lbs off the weight.
New Ritchey red 4 axis stem and Ritchey Superlogic Carbon Logic 2 bars arrive this week.
New wheels are carbon Light Bicycle rims on Novatec hubs, Michelin Pro 4 Endurance tyres and Specialized Romin Expert Gel Saddle.

Will get updated photos once the stem and bars go on.

For reference I'm 1.94m tall and looked at the Cannondale Synapse before going for the Giant and definitely needed the 60 cm but my proportions are fairly even with regards legs/torso.
