Morning. So due to neck injury I cannot cope with the pressure of the retention or dial at the base of most mtb helmets as it creates pressure at the base of my skull aggrevating the neck injuries. So my poc tectral is pretty useless, My old urge helmets have pretty much seen the day, so what is out there in terms of helmets without a dial in fit?

Besides the fox dropframe, which has no retention system bar pads is there anything else?

It does have a ratchet style system, but Kask helmets are really adjustable so you can move where the pressure is applied - might be worth a try on?

I was gonna suggest Urge, unless they've changed designs since you and I bought them.

Yes most of the urge have a retention system, I cannot Cope with the pressure base of my skull but maybe will try a kask.

I think you'll struggle to find anything half frame unless you don't mind wearing a piss pot?

Lazer helmets have the adjuster dial on the top of the shell, might be worth a look.

decathlon AM helmet has a soft stretchy strap as retention. it`ll be crap if you dont have the exact head size of teh mold it was made from - but luckily i have.

Most of them can be wound right back, would that suffice?

My specialized Ambush has a retention adjustment built into the shell of the helmet, so the adjusters don’t stick out at all really. Might be worth trying on?

If you keep looking/trying as many as possible I’d be surprised if you can find something that works. E.g. Giro Montaro doesn’t touch your head right at the back, instead there are 2 pads that sit around 3cm apart. My wife’s Lazer touches the head but it’s a massively wide thing (approaching 6 inches) to spread the load. My Sweet Protection fits well enough that I barely need the retention tightened, but is a pretty standard looking mechanism. Loads of options out there, hopefully one that suits
