or is it impossible to get it not to rub in all the gears? Spent ages trying and the best I can get is slight rub in highest and lowest gears...

34 x 11/34 - am I just being a muppet?

Mine rubbed a bit at one extreme, but didn't really bother me. Either it's worn so it doesn't rub, or else it bothered me even less with time because I don't notice it at all now.

mine rubs in inner and outer gear whilst on stand but once you are riding along the noise of tyres on ground, your wheezing, creaking sounds drown the rubbing noise out, otherwise its a great peice of kit but replave the bolt and nut as soon as you get it as the supplied ones are cr@p made of butter not even cheese

They all do that sir. I've dropped my two smallest cogs and run the cassette 7 speed but spaced it to sit in the middle of the freehub. I now run a 39T front ring. Works ace.

Damn! I had this in mind for my Handjob. Not so keen if it rubs when on high/low of the cassette!

Well, I think they have to be fairly narrow to stop the chain falling off.

Yes, they are ~£37 which is a total rip off, but there aren't that many options unfortunately 🙁

ruddy...is there enough adjustment on a front mech to hold the mech in the middle ring position or did you do it some other way?

I've always been of the opinion that 1x9 is not going to be great for reliability due to angles at highest and lowest gear..

1x7 sounds much more realistic and will very likely be featuring on my 456 at some point in the next 18 months.

They can be an arse to setup but should be able to get them not to tub/to not rub noticeably.

Handful of very thin washers usually works well if its not an infinitely adjustable system.

I have a Paul Chain Keeper - Its ace and far more discreet, and cheaper.

nice bit of machined alloy to boot!

I bought a DMR chain cage as it is more adjustable/bodgeable. works fine with no rubbing or chain dropping

Seems to depend on the bike and the riders style - I had no end of problems with the chain derailing from the bottom run when you back pedal slightly.

how often are you in those gears?

i did bias my chainset to improve the chainline for the biggest sprockets as those are the ones when you are likely to be putting them and the chain under stress on my 1x9 works fine - most people seem to use just the middle ring even if they have a triple

nickegg - no bodge, just lowered it to just above the ring, tweaked the hi low adj, twisted it out a bit and bobs your uncle.

Anybody else got one of these and noticed how weak it is??

I'm don't wrench hard when i tighten anything in fact i am super careful but first the main mounting bolt stripped and then when i replaced the smaller bolt at back of guide the plastic cracked 🙁

I know its xc orientated but surely should be stronger or have i got a duff one??

Considering taking it off and putting something more robust on

Are there any disadvantages to the Pauls one that alexonabike linked to? seems simple and straight-forward and less prone to rubbing when using the ends of the cassette.

where did you get it from alex??
