I'm thinking of renting a small place in the Valleys reasonably close to Bristol. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a nice (cheap) place to be. I'm thinking either near to Abergavenny or perhaps further West nearer to Cymcarn. Any good letting agencies that have a decent list of properties and won't scam me?

The closer to Aber you get, the higher your rent will be. But it will be so much easier to get to Bristol. How much you wanting to spend and how big?
I'm from south Wales and now live in Bristol.
Don't think that it's going to be cheap or easy to commute to Bristol (bridge toll, rail network ok but limited by geography etc). They're culturally very different places too.
Both have a lot to offer, but you may find it hard to get the best of both when you commute and spend loads of money for the pleasure!
Sod having to go over that frigging bridge every day. No way, no way indeedy! 😆
Thanks for the input. Actually I don't have to make the journey every day, just twice a week. I'd be in bristol tuesday to friday. I'm thinking small and cheap. Under £100 a week.

They certainly look cheap! It seems crazy how expensive housing is in Bristol, yet there are derelict houses all over the place.
Quite a few bikers in south wales drive to Caldicot or Chepstow and commute to Bristol by bike from there. A decent cycle and no tolls.
