[#430575]

Here's mine

Find the "secret" abandoned monastery with Roper in Montes de los Barrios (hopefully it will be third time lucky)
Climb the Torecilla mountain in Sierra de las Nieves, just north of Marbella (around 1800m altitude), again hopefully with Roper
Innerleithen
Glentress Black
Join SFB on a ride this summer
Ride with Trekster around the Mabie locals tracks
Penmacho
Join Knottie and gang on a Quantocks ride in the autumn

Anyone got anything interesting on their MTB to do lists? Doesn't have to be ride locations, could be anything.

Get an Elite license, although they're changing the licences for a road style 1st/2nd/3rd cat system, so that's out the window! 1st cat just doesn't sound as good as Elite!

Oh - and if I do manage to get 6 weeks off over the summer, goes without saying I'd like to meet loads of STW riders and go on some social rides but I will be mainly in Scotland and could be in Wales for a week or two too staying in Blaneau Ffestiniog (spelling?)

Most of my goals for this year are Dh race related as a 1st year master.
Get a top 10 at a race - Done now replaced with below.
Get a top 5 at a race.
Get a top 10 at a Pearce DH race.

Apart from that just ride lots, stay fit and have fun.

Nick

Hi - my best mate lives in Milton Keynes and also I knew Trimix from when I was at school so yeah, I may be there for a day or two so yeah, never ridden there but would love to.

I handed in my notice at work yesterday and it seemed to go well with my boss. I have asked to leave end of May but I am on 3 months notice so will hear in a week or two when I can leave. I've been quite stressed out and not too well these last few months so really just wanted a month to chill, get out in nature and be back in the UK.

Get my wife to ride regularly so as to build up some fitness and skill - nothing dramatic just enough to go out for a few hours and have a picnic.

A second option would be for her to leave me alone so I can ride whenever I want and have a meal and a beer ready for me when I get back.

Ahem - it's a beautiful place and I really mean that! I still remember one New Year's Eve there and went for a night time walk in the snow with a full moon and cloudless sky, air crisp and magical.

It also makes a brilliant base for mountain biking and is very close to my beloved Dinas Emrys.

I also used to live in Holyhead and yeah, in amongst the drugs and unemployment and stuff, there's some lovely people there and megaliths and beaches and things too.

Rocketdog,

Don't forget that Gibraltar has the honour every so often of having Royal navy ships dock for a day or two with their crews out drinking.

I've not lived there but have stayed there on extended visits with friends. Believe it or not I miss the place and I really miss being in Snowdonia.

Anyway, back to everyone else's plans.

Well, where shall I start?

1. One week's solo riding in the hills and I won't tell anyone where I've gone!
2. Part of the Wessex Way, solo naturally, to get me out of my comfort zone.
3. Purbecks next month.
4. Dartmoor - anyone want show an old wuss around?
5. Q's again.
6. Bogtrotters ride led by the inimitable simonfbarnes and only if it incorporates a minimum of 50 folk using cheeky trails/footpaths.

That's all I can think of for now but no doubt the list will get added to!

the inimitable simonfbarnes

only because no one would choose to be like this ๐Ÿ™‚

and only if it incorporates a minimum of 50 folk using cheeky trails/footpaths.

50 is a tall order - you might have to bring 25 with you...

sfb - any chance of you posting up that wonderful pic of one of your rides with a HUGE number of riders lifting bikes over stiles? That one really made me laugh and showed the true spirit of mountain biking! From memory I believe you got quite a bit of stick on here ... so that should encourage you ๐Ÿ˜‰

You reckon 25 Southern Shandy Drinkers could cope?

Oh ... and who wants to be boring ๐Ÿ˜†

that remains to be seen - it can be hard to avoid a certain amount of 'showing off' in such circumstances :o)

My mountain biking life will be completely fulfilled whatever monumentous rides or achievements may, or may not happen - just as long as I never, ever end up on one of those rides.

fair enough, only those that enjoy a throng need attend :o) I'm not a sociable person, but I love it when there are loads of riders, there's a great buzz when everyone is enjoying themselves!

I've only done 5 solo MTB rides and 1400 in company...

Thanks Simon! Some great shots and the scenery really has the "wow" factor.

My mate RudeBoy would love it ๐Ÿ˜† He would be flying the flag for the SSD. Aleigh is certainly up for a visit too but reckon my bike/bod would need to be toughened up ๐Ÿ˜‰

all you really need is enthusiasm - I'm always happy to match the ride to the riders - so long as you're trying your best, you'll get the most from it:-)
