Has anyone done the Mosel cycle route? We'll be in the area on holiday next month and fancy doing 1 leisurely day on it (on our gravel/hybrid bikes) taking in the sites, gawping at castles, eating cake, having a nice lunch etc.
Can any recommend the prettiest 1 day section say up to 60-65km (return or 1-way with a bus/train back to start)?
I rode along it for a couple of days last year around the Schweich area. Very easy riding, very, very popular with retired Germans on e-bikes, plenty of places for stopping. Frankly, I thought it was pretty boring riding along a river valley with steep green hills either side, but I can see why it's a popular leisure riding destination. Doesn't help much, sorry.
Thanks. It'll be a lazy day for us towards the end of the week after some via ferrata and walking further north. Think of it as a ride to various konditorei without the guilt
We ended up doing a Traben to Bernkastel out and back route
Lovely ride in the sun with a nice lunch and a large glass of cheeky rosé
Same as elshalimo albeit starting/ending in Bernkastel...nice chill flat ride of circa 30 miles using both sides of the river for much of it as a bit of variation. We just had hire bikes
:edit: i see now elshalimo started this thread and is now updating 😂 oh well, was a lovely ride so nice to be reminded
