I've been riding with 2.35 DTC Kenda nevagals for the last couple of seasons and they are a great all round tyre. Seen a couple of articles on running a different tyre front to back. I'm thinking of Maxxis ardent up front and a crossmark out back. Anyone got experience they want to share?

Why not? Some tyres particularly suit one end over the other. Give it a go...

only way to find out is to try it for yourself. I run a High Roller on the front and Advantage on the back & it works for me.

Used to be common practice to have different tyres front and rear...think it may have died out due to manufacturers producing front and rear specific versions of the same tyre or having directional treads (i.e. one way round for front and the other way round for rear)...anyway, I see no real reason not to do it if you need/want to.

Do it. I have radial and crossply on the car.

Depends what you're riding and where/how you're riding it. Think fast rolling rears and good/predictable cornering characteristics on the front.

"Think fast rolling rears and good/predictable cornering characteristics on the front"
Obviously your trade off is braking/pedalling traction in different conditions and a bit more drag at the front

Also, trying to match up the tyre sizes can get finicky
Bear in mind different tyre sizes between brands and within brands, ie old* and new** maxxis, old(ish) and new* continental etc ..

Minion DHF front, High Roller rear. Both 2.35, rear is dual ply. Only problem I've had is that the dual ply HR is so heavy, it feels at least twice the weight of the older single ply version I had.
