If you find a solution I'm all ears. I have one student in my year group who is really struggling to access Teams on his Mac. Our Service Desk are yet to find a solution...

@unfitgeezer when you say it won't work, can you describe any error messages you get? It won't load? Is it the Teams app on Mac that you're trying to use? Are you using the latest app? Teams for Mac OS.

I'm not sure how it works in a student setting, have they been added to a Team? Do they get an Office365 account as a student? If they can get logged in at office.com they should be able to open the Teams app via a browser. I use Chrome & Edge at work (on Windows though) and Teams via the browser works fine.

I use a Mac at work...got the Teams app and it works...which isn't going to help much.

I also had it working using Chrome, but only used it once that way - it opened and I could move around a group (team) but I didn't do much else with it.

I am using Teams on an iMac with Chrome and no problems at all, it is the latest one. I am lecturer so am uploading, moving stuff around. Could it be a privacy setting in the browser or in system preferences?

In general with anything web-based I would try another browser. Chrome or Firefox would have better support by most apps.

Teams web app not supported on Safari. Does work on Chrome. I installed the app (which I appreciate might not be possible for some) and it seems almost as fully featured as the windows one.

My kids schools gave them an office 365 account. We just installed office on Mac (and iPad) and all the apps, including Teams, work fine. We don't attempt to use in browser at all.

If your kids have a Glow account, chances are they have office 365.

I have Teams app working on a mac. Not tested this but might be worth avoiding Safari completely and installing Chrome and setting it as the default browser. Any links in an email etc. will then open in Chrome

As above, I'd try using Chrome. It seems be a feature of Safari that certain apps / websites etc don't play nicely with it. The first thing I do when that happens is try using Chrome instead. Around 90% of the time that sorts it out.

I use a MacBook Air and Teams works absolutely fine, both in Chrome and using the MacOS app.

Just as a heads up Teams app (not browser based) works ok back as far as High Sierra on Macs. The browser based stuff seems to work ok on Brave (another Chromium based jobbie) too.

For those in education, Adobe have allowed access at home for students who use CC at school, college and university. The institution has to request it, then it should be okay. You can run it on a few machines in the house, including mobiles and tablets

Not sure if Mums and Dads are allowed to use it 🙂 It will run out in provisionally May/June, but who knows!

We had problems getting the teams app to load into Safari on an iPadPro. We used the advice on this link and it worked: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/safari-browser-support-1aac0a7c-35a8-42c1-a7df-f674afe234df
