If the description doesn't explicitly say can I expect Merlin SLX brakes to be the right way round ie. Right hand front?

I got some a month or so ago that were the right way round.

5 minute job, no bleeding required to swop them anyway

As above, 2 mins and you're there, cant remember whether it's a 7 or 8mm spanner but it's a POP, no faffage and no re-bleed necessary 🙂

Tue dat - swapping 'em over is one of the most straightforward fettling jobs I've ever done. You can probably cut them to the right length while you're at it.

Mine were pretty long so needed taking apart anyway to shorten.

Thanks all. Swapping them over may be simple for most but likely to be a major issue for intended buyer. Sounds like it should be OK. If they are long that can be sorted at a later date.

Check out our guide on shortening Shimano hoses without the bleed:

Worth buying the SLX's over the Deore's?

I've got both, very similar performance but the SLXs have a bit more bite and feel than the Deores (which may be due to using XT rotors with my SLX brakes) and the SLX's levers have an lever reach adjust knob, the Deores have an Allen bolt reach adjuster instead.

TBH both are very good. Piece of cake to bleed and shorten the hoses too 🙂

Btw, SLXs are much cheaper from Ribble at the moment - picked up a set today for £90. They're definitely UK style R-front, L-rear too.
