I'am thinking about using maxxis aspen tyres front and back ?
What are your thoughts/experience
or what's your choice?
I got these on a Whyte 19 I bought and didnt think they would be any good but I was supprised. They are great tyres as long as its not muddy as then you may as well have slicks on. They have a good grip but under breaking they seem to loose traction.
got these on the race bike. I find them very fast indeed! Grip well i think! Not amazing on big rocks though.
They're a superb rear tyre - I wouldn't run one on the front, though. They cope very well in conditions where they look like they should struggle (I've used mine in snow). Much more than just a race tyre.
quick and when cornering you have to be brave as they do grip eventually, can be a bit disconcerting when moving from a pair of minions as I did.
As above. I nearly died laughing when I saw what passes for knobs on them... but on the trail they are brilliant until you find the mud... but even then they can be surprisingly good when you give the rear a wiggle and get the side knobs to bite.
Feels fine on the front to me but I run it pretty soft.
I found the performance dropped off a bit when they were pumped up hard so I'm going to ghetto tubeless them shortly and I think with lower pressure they should be even better.
messiah - I run a 2.25" tubeless, no problems. However, the 2.1" I have on the - really - fast bike just will not hold air. It's perfectly seated and there are no discernible leaks, but the air pressure just bleeds out. I'm certain that the sidewalls are to blame, and the sealant (Joe's at the moment) just doesn't touch it. The tyre weighs 456g...
Very very good tyres, watch out for the exception sidewalls though, they are paper thin, destroyed a month old tyre on a small rock riding up hill!!
